They always said the world is bright,
But things seemed different,
They just weren’t right.
I’d only ever heard of privilege,
Yet some were born into it,
And they’d known nothing but rage.
My world was filled with nothing but darkness,
And it felt like I was thrown into the depth of the world,
With nothing but them as my harness.
“The world is cruel”,
I now know that’s true,
With the world against me; it felt like a duel.
I’d like nothing more than to play and sing,
But there isn’t much that I can do,
And that hurts and stings.
They always said the world is bright,
But stars can’t shine bright without darkness,
And despite everything, I was their light.
Beautiful. Very good.
